What is the Exploratory Wheel Elective?
In the exploratory wheel, 6th grade students rotate each quarter to a new elective to experience a wide variety of industries with the purpose of finding a interest area they wish to puruse in 7th and 8th grade.
What are the 6th grade options for math?
Hewes offers traditional (6th grade math) and accelerated (Math 6A). Both allow you to participate in the highest levels of math at the high school level. Participating in the TUSD process of taking the Mastery Checkpoint is a requirement for Math 6A.
Other than accelerated math, are there other honors classes in 6th grade?
Hewes students may be selected to be in honors Core based on teacher recommendations using a variety of multiple measures. Hewes offers differentiated instruction in sixth grade with heterogeneous grouping.
What foreign language electives can I take?
Hewes offers French 1 and Spanish 1 for 8th grade students. Full year of foreign language classes are only offered to 8th grade students as these are high school level courses,
