In the exploratory wheel, 6th grade students have different electives such as AVID, Research and Technology, Spanish, STEM, and Woodshop.
What are the 6th grade options for math?
Hewes offers traditional (6th grade math) and accelerated (Math 6A). Both allow you to participate in the highest levels of math at the high school level. Participating in the TUSD process of taking the Mastery Checkpoint is a requirement for Math 6A.

Hewes students may be selected to be in honors Core based on teacher recommendations using a variety of multiple measures. Hewes offers differentiated instruction in sixth grade with heterogeneous grouping.
