After School Programs
TUSD Expanded Learning - Free After-School Program
Tustin Unified School District has two grant-funded programs through the California Department of Education, After School Education and Safety (ASES) and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P). These two programs make up "TUSD Expanded Learning" offering free programming throughout TUSD elementary and middle schools. The contracted partner providers are Catalyst Kids and YMCA. Based on grant funding per site, certain grade levels are served and either all students or qualified students at that site are eligible for free programming. Students can qualify for programming based on family income, foster child, or designated English Learner (see chart below for grade levels and qualifications per school site).
TUSD Expanded Learning is open every day when school is in session and an additional 30 days per school year (5 days at winter break, 5 days during spring break, and 20 days in summer). Participants attend the program from school dismissal until 6:00 PM with allowable pick-up time starting at 5:00 PM. Participation is available to students enrolled and attending during the school day and is subject to program capacity. Students are served a nutritious snack that conforms to state and district nutritional standards. Program instructors collaborate with principals and classroom teachers to support student homework and reading. District-aligned educational and enrichment activities & clubs are also provided along with daily structured recreational activities.
